“Adopt a Pet” this was the theme of the party conducted by the Animal protection office of New Taipei city at the city government plaza in Banciao. Helping dogs and cats to find homes, another main notion of the party was to educate people about pet abandonment.
Eric Chu, New Taipei City Mayor, having attended the opening said, that the city government executed a no-euthanasia policy, adding that homeless dogs and cats held by the authorities and kept in animal shelters should no longer face the prospect of demise, if they were not adopted within a stipulated period.
Quite a few public and private shelters are making efforts to arrange for the adoption of stray dogs and cats, however, there is a large number of wandering dogs and cats can be seen on the streets, he added.
Even though the main concept of this party was about calling people to adopt animals, the city mayor also urged the owners to not to abandon their pets.
An animal adoption center has been set up by the animal protection office in Banciao. Not only you can meet pets for adoption, but also attend courses that will help you know how to raise pets.
